More Dice & One Last Stretch Goal!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Nov 10, 2017 at 09:36:08 AM

Greetings Legends!

Just for the record, I started this update at 11 a.m. Things have escalated quickly! So I’ve had to rewrite and add to this constantly throughout the day, including the time to make a new stretch goals graphic.

So the 48-hour notices have gone out and we’re in the final stretch - things are getting crazy! We’ve passed by two stretch goals in the span of a few hours! Welcome to all the new backers, and a big thank you to everyone that has been with us for this awesome journey.

I mentioned yesterday that we were going to take a look at Jeremiah and Elijah’s personal totems - and we will! But I definitely wanted to get this update out first since the campaign has really caught on fire.

First off, since a few of you have asked, we’ve decided to add just one more thing to the campaign: extra dice. We promise this will be the only add-on for the campaign! But if you’d like an extra set of 6 of the special “pumpkin” dice you can add $10 to your pledge. Each set of 6 is $10, so if you’d like 10 sets, you can add $100 to your pledge! Why anyone would need 11 sets of pumpkin dice is beyond me, but hey - it’s your money!

Next, because you’re all so awesome, we’ve added one final stretch goal to the project. If we reach $76K by the end of the campaign we will add an additional standalone Chapter to the game!

This Chapter will contain a slightly-modified map on the back side of the $72K stretch goal Chapter, as well as some new epic Skill cards for each Hero. These Skills will require punchboard chits to place out on the board, so you’re getting those, too, of course! You will be able to play these two additional Chapters at the end of the main story and carry the epic Relics and Skills with your Heroes as you play through the game again on a higher difficulty level. These two Chapters, plus the advanced Chapter game mats (bound into a book) will be boxed together into an expansion that will be sold in retail for $20 - but you’ll all be getting it for free.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful enthusiasm and support. We’ll be back soon with those closer looks at Jeremiah and Elijah’s totems - right after I (Chris) take some more DayQuil and lay down for a bit. :)

All the best,
Chris, Ben, & Matt

Our Video Goes 3d & A Closer Look at American Gothic
over 6 years ago – Thu, Nov 09, 2017 at 02:24:14 PM

Greetings Legends!

It’s been another great day for the campaign and we’re edging closer to the next stretch goal and all those advanced Chapter mats! Thanks for spreading the word - let’s keep at it as we hit the 48-hour notice mark tomorrow.

Yesterday we took a look at Matthias and Emily’s personal Totem cards. We’re going to save the closer look at Jeremiah and Elijah’s Totems until tomorrow so we can focus on a couple of new things: a revised Kickstarter video and a better look at the art book!

First off, Trevor Casterline has been working diligently to show off gameplay in the main Kickstarter video with some 3d animation. He’s finally wrapped that up and it’s just in time for the 48-hour surge! Check it out below.

Next, Jenn has put together some preview pages of our art book, American Gothic! In addition to the teasers you see below we will also commission three new pieces of art from Abigail Larson to illustrate the original story of Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Hopefully these teasers will be enough to convince anyone on the fence about the book to up their pledge, and we’ll add this graphic to the front of the campaign for any new backers to come across as we gear up for the last couple of days.

Please bear in mind that the artbook is a work-in-progress and some small details may change as we continue with the layout.

And just to let you all see how a finished art book will turn out, here’s a collage of our last art book for Fate of the Elder Gods - Forbidden Lore.

We’ll be back tomorrow with Jeremiah and Elijah’s Totems. Thanks again for the support, and let’s keep this journey moving!

All the best,
Chris, Ben, & Matt

Our Last Week & Another Stretch Goal Down
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2017 at 12:52:39 PM

Greetings Legends!

Thanks to all of you we've blown past another stretch goal! In the past 24 hours we've seen an increase in funding with great pledge retention. So welcome to all our new backers - we hope you enjoy settling in as we edge closer to that $65k goal and get some awesome, custom-molded dice!

As of today we are in the last week of the campaign which means we should see a steady increase in pledges culminating with an uptick once the 48-hour reminders go out. As I mentioned before, this campaign is rolling along similarly to Spirit Island's campaign. So, in an effort to show a little bit of how the funding curves look - and what Legends of Sleepy Hollow is likely to do here at the end - I went back and dug up the numbers for a comparison.

Although the campaign is doing well and we're heading toward these final three stretch goals we still need your help in spreading the word and holding onto that wonderful enthusiasm. Your support has been awesome!

We'll be back in the next couple of updates with a closer look at the Kickstarter promotional personal totem cards and what history they hold for our Heroes, plus a closer look at the American Gothic art book. Until then, happy gaming!

All the best,
Chris, Ben, & Matt

Custom Dice for Everyone and Matthias & Emily Get Personal
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2017 at 10:45:34 AM

Greetings Legends!

It was a great weekend - you all smashed another stretch goal! Thankfully we can now add custom molded plastic dice to the game. Now we’re headed toward the last of the advanced difficulty game mats which will allow us to compile them and bind them just like the Storybook in the base game. Remember that this bound advanced Storybook will not be in the base game so every backer will be getting a $20 game expansion for free!

Speaking of Kickstarter perks we thought it would be a good idea this last week to take a closer look at the promotional personal Totem cards that each backer will receive. These will not be available in retail.

Little is known about Matthias Geroux’s military history except that he served in the Revolutionary War. One clue to Matthias’s war stories is the Badge of Merit affixed to his coat that the other three Heroes have spied from time to time. The official Badge of Merit was recorded as being rewarded by General Washington to only three people during the war, none of them by the name of Matthias Geroux. And, traditionally, the badge was worn above the left breast over the heart. Intriguingly enough, Matthias wears his above his right breast. As a bit of military history for us here in modern times, the Badge of Merit would come back into use during the 1930s as the medal we know now as the Purple Heart.

For the Van Winkles, the acorn adorns the family crest and has always been a symbol of youth, prosperity, and good fortune. Young Emily Van Winkle was a very talented, curious, and precocious child, often wandering away from home into the forest for adventure, much to the consternation of her father. Before the elder Van Winkle took Emily under his wing as an apprentice tanner in her teens, he would entrust his mother with Emily’s care, hoping to keep the young girl in the house and out of trouble. Of course, Emily’s grandmother was just as much a free spirit. So, in order to keep the girl safe on her journeys she worked with Emily to craft a good luck totem - acorn-adorned arm bracers. Before she passed away, Emily’s grandmother told her that the bracers would keep her “young and lucky, unlike her unfortunate cousin Rip.” Now, Emily carries her bracers on her journey to find the lost Ichabod and, with her uncanny ability to bend arrows and hit unlikely targets, the other Heroes find her to be filled with an almost supernatural amount of luck.

That’s it for today, but we’ll be back tomorrow with more on Jeremiah and Elijah’s personal totems. We’re also hoping to share a sneak peek at more of the American Gothic art book - so stay tuned, keep spreading the good word, and happy gaming!

All the best,
Chris, Ben, & Matt

Replayability and New Stretch Goals
over 6 years ago – Thu, Nov 02, 2017 at 09:05:26 AM

Greetings Legends!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and fun Halloween! We also hope you all like our Halloween surprise. As for the Headless Horseman mini, there are still some tweaks to be made, but Francesco did a great job of putting it together so we could have a little something special for the holiday. That's our last mini reveal - we want to save some surprises for the box, and there's plenty in there!

More Praise for Replayability

First thing for today’s update: BJ Rozas over at Board Game Gumbo wrote an excellent article about his experiences playing Legends of Sleepy Hollow. He got in five plays of Chapter 1, which is awesome! He mentions a lot of great points about the game, including how exciting the upgrade system can be, but one piece I want to highlight is about replayability:

“I have played the opening chapter five times now, and was surprised by the repeatability just within the first chapter. Because of the way different players will play each character, the AI of the Schrikroots and Gobkins will create different battle scenarios. The random distribution of the clues also means that each game plays differently, and this is due to the unusual set up of the school house. It is not just one large box with equal sides and spaces. Instead, there are nooks and crannies, funny angles for Emily to take advantage, small squeezed in corridors for the tank to use as a choke point, and lots of different sizes and paths for the foes to take.”

New Stretch Goals!

Next, let’s talk stretch goals. Quite a few of you have wondered what the plan is for the rest of the campaign, so we figured since we’re almost in the home stretch we might as well reveal what we have in store. Below you’ll see the new stretch goal graphic with two new goals - one for the rest of the advanced Chapter game mats, and a little something extra for everyone!

The additional Chapter will be a standalone scenario; consider it a sort of postscript to the story. The epic Relic upgrades at the end can be taken and used with the Heroes if you choose to replay the story from the beginning with higher difficulty.

Since our contest went live on BoardGameGeek today we’ve seen a nice uptick in traffic and pledges. We are trending toward $75k by the end of the campaign, especially considering the upswing at the 48-hour mark. We want to make these stretch goals so we can give you all more awesome content, but we still need your help in spreading the word of the campaign. Post about it everywhere, and remain steadfast in those pledges!

Thanks again for the support, and until next time, happy gaming!

All the best,
Chris, Ben, & Matt
